Artist's Statement

During the Twentieth Century, abstract art and modernism became such dominant art styles, while sadly, traditional painting skills and meticulous craftsmanship of the more realistic art genres was often overlooked and disrespected. As Artist Member of the Guild there’s no need to defend my preference of style against those tiresome critics who presume Realist art is old-fashioned or unevolved. One only needs to visit one of our exhibitions or view the Gallery Showcase on this website, to appreciate the incredible array of exceptional Realism. The Guild represents outstanding Realism from 26 different nations, ranging from classical realism to ultra contemporary realism, including trompe l'oeil, photorealism, surrealism, and every other genre within the style.

Artist's Biography

Born in 1962, in the Netherlands.

I feel an irresistible attraction towards Realism. I love looking at it, as well as creating it. Currently, I focus on two of the most meticulous of the fine art genres, namely trompe l'oeil and photorealism. Both styles allow me to go back and forth between sharply focused close-ups and the challenge to create intricate live-sized compositions. Symbolism infuses my paintings with what is for me an essential freedom of expression. This allows me to convey my thoughts and beliefs, while still implementing the delicate and precise techniques of Realism.

My twenty-five year career spans halfway across the globe. My paintings, drawings, and sculptures have been exhibited in ten countries, and reside in numerous collections around the world. I am especially pleased that five of my bronze statues enjoy permanent public installation in the Netherlands. My paintings are exhibited in a number of fine art museums and galleries in the United States and Europe.
