9 th Annual International Juried Exhibition
Robert Lange Studios in Charleston, South Carolina
November 7th - November 28th, 2014
||The International Guild of Realism had a wonderful week of art events celebrating the opening of our 9th Annual Exhibition at the beautiful Robert Lange Studios in historic Charleston, South Carolina. We enjoyed several events over a three day period with over 25 IGOR artists in attendance. The weather was sunny everyday and all events turned out as planned including our first ever sunset dinner cruise. The quality of the show was amazing and without a doubt, another astounding IGOR Annual Exhibition. The Robert Lange Studios is one of the highest rated galleries in the US and has been voted the best gallery in Charleston from 2010 to 2013. It's one of largest galleries in this historic city and has a beautiful museum style exhibition space. The paintings were hung beautifully and the lighting on every painting was perfect. Our host gallery was equally as thrilled with the quality of the show and they were grateful that so many IGOR artists attended the opening events.

Comments from Attending IGOR Members
|"Before the glow wears off from our experience in Charleston, I'll try to capture the amazing event I was privileged to be a part of. Through the efforts of Donald Clapper, Kim Orlowski, and others in the IGOR membership, the 9th Annual IGOR Juried Exhibition was by all accounts a big success. The host gallery, Robert Lange Studios, has created an impressive gallery space and an active artistic presence in Charleston. The organization and operation of the gallery by Robert and his wife Megan brings excitement and elegance to Realism. This event was my first chance to attend an IGOR juried show. From the seminar talk by Camille Engel, to the gallery tour by Alison Massari (curator at the Vendue Hotel) to the opening of the show itself, I felt a real confirmation of my place in IGOR. I also couldn't help but be in awe of some the talents on display in the gallery. The whole event has renewed my dedication to crafting my voice in art and continuing to refine my skills. My wife Jan and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Charleston and foresee a return. We have many more restaurants to sample! Having followed the rise of Robert Lange's gallery prominence in the pages of American Art Collector and the RLS website, the chance to be a part of the IGOR show in his gallery was the highlight of my exhibit schedule this year. I'm trying to be cool, but I have to say I was humbled and honored and stoked! Thanks to all involved in this wonderful event!"

"Thank you so much for this incredible opportunity and experience. It was so great to meet all the artists that I have been admiring only by computer till now. And to see my work hanging on the wall of Robert Lange Studios was a true dream come true. (I probably never even dreamed that big.) To have him sell the Loveless painting and know he even knows my name was just amazing. I learned so much by seeing the incredible art, hearing Camille's workshop, hearing the perspective from the art collector Bill Rowett and talking with all the wonderful artists. Thank you just doesn't quite express my gratitude."
Diane Davich-Craig, IGOR attending member
"I wanted to say a very big thank you for organizing what turned out to be a wonderful experience for me and my family. I can only imagine the amount of work that went into planning and executing this event. Thankfully, the 'weather Gods' cooperated with you and we had to keep reminding ourselves it was the month of November. Us Northerners are acclimated to cold weather for November, not t-shirt and flip-flop weather! We truly enjoyed the seminar and boat ride/dinner ( under a full moon, no less !). The history and gallery walk was so enjoyable. Learned lots and saw artists' work in other galleries that I have admired for years. The gallery space and the opening at Robert Lange Studios was so special ; I could not have imagined a better place for the show. I was so honored to be with other artists whose works left me antsy to come home and 'step up' my game. We had a truly enjoyable and memorable experience and for that, I say a huge 'thank you'!"
Leslie Junkin Fornalik, IGOR attending member
"Being part of The International Guild of Realism, exhibiting and attending the last two exhibitions, has given me one of the biggest boosts in my art career. Last year at Tempe, AZ I met the editor of American Art Collector who later asked me to write an eight page article on my story and process for International Artist Magazine. This year at Charleston, SC I was thrilled to find out that one of my two large paintings juried into the exhibition, pre-sold to one of the gallery's most prominent collectors even before I arrived! I was honored to receive the Creative Achievement Award for my other painting. Taking the time and money to travel to the IGOR exhibitions has been well worth it, because it is so much more than just an exhibition opening. I have been able to meet gallery owners in the art districts from IGOR's guided gallery walks. Also, the information that I have received from the seminars and meeting the other IGOR artists has been invaluable. As a high realist artist it is so exciting to be around other artists of similar style and technical excellence who speak my language."
Josh Tiessen, IGOR attending member
"The most important thing that struck me when I first attended an IGOR exhibition was the statement that this organization was formed to advance the careers of its members. I took that to heart and the organization has done just that for me. If one plans ahead you can set up appointments and arrange for portfolio reviews at various galleries. I have gotten into several galleries in major art centers by attending the annual exhibitions.
Charleston Events: I look forward to interacting with other artists (new and old friends) so the social events are really an important way to share ideas and reinforcement. Our members form closer relationships than the members of other organizations.
9th Annual Show: Every exhibition has been outstanding but this was one of my favorites, the gallery, the hosts, the Charleston area, the food, the history, and southern hospitality. Megan and Robert provided a beautiful setting and were excellent hosts."
Lee Alban, IGOR attending member
Once again, a heartfelt congratulation goes out to all participating IGOR Artist Members for producing such top-quality realism artwork for the exhibition. We hope you enjoy the video and make sure to send out the video link to your collectors and artist friends... and don't forget to post everything on your Facebook page. If you did not get a chance to participate in our 9th Annual Exhibition, the above video will give you an idea of what the events were all about.
Be sure to enter next year's exhibition as it is our intention to continue to grow and elevate the International Guild of Realism as we move forward into the future. IGOR is now a major player in the resurgence of academic realism which is taking place in all of the major art markets, so keep on painting your masterpieces!
